(14.5 Hours) Be a part of the green jobs revolution. Today’s solar hot water systems are reliable, efficientand qualify for lucrative state and federal tax credits. Adding a solar hot water system design andinstallation capability can be a profitable addition to your list of services or as a primary business. Thiscourse is designed for HVAC, plumbing, roofing and construction trades people, architects and engineersand those who have a specific interest in solar thermal systems. Day 1 covers tax credits and rebatesavailable, northeast solar resources, site evaluation, client BTU (British Thermal Unit) needs, solarcollectors, tanks and other equipment and top solar designs for the Northeast. Day 2 covers collectorcomparison methods, monitoring systems, roof attachments, recharging old systems, heat exchangeconsiderations and integration of solar storage with existing and new domestic hot water and will brieflyaddress space heat systems. A working portable Solar Thermal unit will be on site to show differentcollectors and plumbing arrangements. Course includes a solar thermal textbook. Homework will beassigned between classes. This course is a central element of the student’s preparation for the for theNABCEP Solar Thermal exam.
