This course will introduce the student to the basic theory and operation of refrigeration systems, heattransfer, materials, tools, installation techniques, and practices. Other topics are measurements, bondingmaterials, heat and temperature, refrigerants and mechanical/electrical components, basic electricaltheory. Also included is introduction to principles of Heat Pump and Geothermal Heat Pump Operations.COURSE OBJECTIVES•All students will be aware of safe electrical, mechanical and refrigerant techniques and willpractice them in the lab exercises. Safety will be stressed at all times.•Students will demonstrate understanding of the Compression Vapor Cycle•Students should master Super heat and Sub cool calculations•Students will demonstrate an understanding of basic heat pump operation•All students should be able to correctly describe the components and operation of Geothermalheat pumps as they currently manufactured.
