Nearly 75% of the average New Yorker’s home energy bill goes to heating and cooling space. Now it can be done with renewable energy — at a lower cost. Electric heat pumps are far more efficient than fossil-fueled systems and will save you money over the life of the system. If you solarize your building or subscribe to a community solar farm, you can say goodbye to fossil fuels! HeatSmart Ulster-Sullivan is your one stop center for education and group purchase discounts.
2020 campaign launches soon..
The HeatSmart Ulster-Sullivan program is a collaboration between Catskill Mountainkeeper and Sustainable Hudson Valley to educate consumers in Ulster and Sullivan Counties about these options and provide group purchase discounts to make buildings more comfortable while cutting costs. HeatSmart makes the transition to clean heating and cooling easier—energy consultants walk owners through the process of improving the energy efficiency of their homes, selecting and installing clean heating and cooling units. The HeatSmart program is funded by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s (NYSERDA).
The first step in making use of renewable heating and cooling technologies is to take charge of your building’s energy efficiency.
Featuring Derek Koundakjian, Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships; Tom Kacandes, Vermont Energy Investment Corporation; Hugo Jule, Ulster County homeowner and energy efficiency expert; and your neighbors who have heat pumps and want to tell the story.
